Fields of Cooperation
  • Regular  bilateral and multilateral  political dialogue;
  • Cooperation in the field of energy. It is important for Georgia to cooperate with Iran as  alternative supplier of energy;
  • Cooperation in the field of transport, it is very important for Georgia to diversify its transport infrastructure;
  • Iran is one of the important trade partners of Georgia. Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission is functioning between the two countries;
  • Cooperation in the field of education and science;
  • Cooperation in the framework of International Organizations.

Legal Framework

 

Georgia and the Islamic Republic of Iran have signed 47 bilateral documents, among them:

·        Air Transport Agreement  between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and  the Government of the Republic of Georgia;

·        Agreement on Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments between the Government of the Republic of Georgia and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·        Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran  for the Avoidance of double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital;

·        Agreed  Minutes on Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Georgia and the Islamic Republic of Iran;

·        Agreement on Trade Cooperation between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
