Evening dedicated to Mr. Vakhushti Kotetishvili
On the October 4, 2015 the Tehran Persian Language Center ("Kānūn-e zabān-e fārsī") hosted the evening dedicated to the prominent Georgian Iranologist, folklorist, scholar, poet and translator from Persian language, the late Mr. Vakhushti Kotetishvili. This event was organized by the Iranian literature magazine "Bukhara" and the Embassy of Georgia to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The event was addressed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Joseph Chakhvashvili, By the Minister-Counselor of the Embassy Mr. Mamuka Kurasbediani and the Assistant of the Ambassador Ms. Maka Natadze, who has read excerpts from the memories of Vakhushti Kotetishvili’s spouse Ms. Mzeo Gogochuri. Speakers broadly discussed Kotetishvili’s multidimensional efforts, they underlined his exceptional contribution in translation of Persian poetry masterpieces in Georgian language, and his fruitful activities as a folklorist, scientist and poet.
Audience was also addressed by the Iranian movie director Mr. Rahim Mortezavand and by the editor of "Bukhara" magazine Mr. Ali Dehbashi, who has read the address letter of Georgian orientalist Mr. George Lobjanidze, and two sonnets of Vakhushti Kotetishvili translated in Persian by Ms. Tea Shurgaia.
The event ended with screening of the documentary film “The Poet of Paradise”, produced by Iranian director Mr. Rahim Mortezavand and dedicated to the life and the work of Vakhushti Kotetishvili.
This evening, commemorating Mr. Vakhushti Kotetishvili, was attended by diplomats and representatives of Iran's literary, culture and art society, and was widely covered by the Iranian media.
